Neighborhood Discovery
Cohabz is a passion project by an altruistic Brooklyn woman who wanted to create transparency in the NYC rental market. My role in this project consisted of working with the client to conceptualize a social web app where people can pay it forward by giving tips to NYC newcomers about neighborhoods, apartment buildings, and landlords. My responsibilities were as visual brand designer, UX designer, as well as creative director. The designs for this project were established almost 3 years ago and I’m happy to say they are still relevant today.
We first met with the client to understand her needs and had several strategy meetings; including OOUX exercises and rapid prototyping. Wireframes connected all of the moving pieces together and allowed us to simplify features. Once wireframes and brand were approved, we worked with a UI designer to pull it all together.
This brand is an expression of our primal need of having a home. This brand plays off of this concept with a modern representation of the symbol for ‘house’ in the Phoenician alphabet, one of the first alphabets to ever be used in human existence.
